Prop Freewheeling or dragged?
I have a 3 bladed fixed prop and ZF gear.

Should I be freewheeling while under sail or lock it by placing gear in reverse or forward?

Well never Fwd, but read your manual, mine says to lock the prop by putting in reverse, but most I believe want it free wheeling, there is less drag freewheeling but sometimes noise.

Never forward. Reverse is acceptable.

Yes it has as has most or a lot of questions, but answer is in your manual more so that on this forum, cause there is more than one correct answer depending on equipment.

As stated 'ad nauseum' already on here - read your manual. THAT is what really counts.

Mine (Yanmar engine same tranny) states clearly in a service bulletin (I found on here) to leave in free-wheel in neutral.

YMMV.

I let mine freewheel since going electric. A few hours sail to Diamond head and back tops off all the battery juice used going out and back in the lagoon entrance channel.

Do you have a link to that service bulletin? Usually they state to leave them in reverse (for Yanmars anyway)
