Overpropping = Hard Starting ?

I keep reading that an overpropped boat will be hard starting but I dont understand the connection as the prop isnt turning when the engine's starting. Can somebody explain?

may be refering to an engine that has been "lagged" as a result of overloading.

Yes, the only correlation between over-propping (or under-propping) that I can think of would be the likely resulting carbon build up in places like the exhaust elbow.

no trans, you start in right rotation for fwd. Stop the engine start in left rotation for rev.
I doubt any have been seen for fifty years and never small enogh for anything less than a hunderd ft.

when my shift cable went south id start in gear, so yeah maybe it was pretty hard to start and i know my wheel is way to big

An engine that is lugging along because it is overproped will carbon up. On a lot of engines this isn't a little bit of carbon, it is a lot. In the combustion chambers and the exhaust elbow. The injectors can also be carboned up from the crap in the cylinder. That stuff, not the prop, will make an engine hard to start.
