How come they can sell 2 strokes, they are banned here in UK

Well I made my choice, 60 hp evinrude etec dura jet, elect start, power tilt, 75amp charging, no mixing of oil, 235 lb. Bought it from premier marine orlando fl. I don't know if you have seen a durajet? They were devolped in the early 90's for the navy seal's. Seams they had a promblem getting up on a plane in a fully loaded rib,because they were loosing to much thrust off the end of the prop blades. So they put it in a tube and changed it to a five blade prop. No more problem. Evinrude started selling them to the public in 2004. The 40 50 and 60 hp weigh the same. Just about the same weight as two 9.9 plus it has power tilt,elect start, and 75 amp charging.

I intend to build a sled, and mount it on the centerline. Because it has the durajet there will be no side thrust.

I was still waiting on some feedback as to if they are something good that has been re-badged, and if the warranty period was satisfactory.

Couldn't find much info on the site.

Not getting anything feedback is like when I was building a nugget in the sixties, and then a 40' Newick in the seventies (quicksilver).It's new and people just don't know about them. They have a three year warranty.

But I'm with Sean, the Etecs are not really an option on his style of boat as they are just too heavy, as are the diesel outboards.

Sean, I have sent an email off for more info on those outboards, as I'm sure you probably have already.

is there any formula or calaculation you can do to calculate the thrust torque generated by different outboards ie a 9.9 yamaha has a 2.92:1 ratio and a fifteen honda has a 2.08:1 ratio, which one will put out more thrust the one with the higher horsepower or the one with the bigger gear ratio?, there must be some way of working it out
