No Plane is No Fun

Does anyone have advise on why I am having so much trouble getting my recently purchased Ebbtide 2500 Mystique to plane? During the test drive at the marina, it seemed like it went to plane effortlessly. Today with many attempts it only went to plane once and that was after I made a sharp turn it went to plane. What am I doing wrong?

Fouled hull/prop, trim incorrect, too much weight onboard or rearwards, trailer still attached, motor not running on all cylinders or otherwise not reaching full power.

That is funny. I laughed out loud!

My take on what Reefmagnet said is, the answer can be anything...not enough information. This might be a question to ask on iboats.com

First it may be worth a quick call to Ebbtide Boats.

Next if you could tell us a little about your boat and in particular what sort of engine it has and since it looks like it may be secondhand what sort of condition it is in we may be able to make a more educated guess.

This review mentions a trim tab. Could the trim settings have been changed?

A glassy smooth water surface creates more drag than one with a small chop.

Was there a chop during the test drive?

Is that crab pot still hanging over the side?

Re: No Plane is No Fun

We once had to get a boat trailer to a waterfront property that had no road access. We just left the boat strapped to the trailer and put the whole lot in at the boat ramp.
Must say the performance wasn't too good, but it got there ok.
