Maxprop classic gen 1 rotation

Can the rotation be altered left or right handed? It's a 3 blade. Thanks

Yes, I believe it can. Go to the PYI website to double check.

Yes you can use for either rotation. In fact if it’s been LH and you change to RH ( or vice versus) its like having new internal gearing

Re: Maxprop classic gen 1 rotation

You can make the max prop either a right handed or left handed prop, but you're limited to the shaft rotation. A clockwise rotation will require a right handed prop. I suppose you could run the transmission in reverse to get a different rotation, but don't think it would be wise unless you checked with the transmission mfg.

Re: Maxprop classic gen 1 rotation

I seem to be missing something here... a feathering prop has flat blades. It works in both forward and reverse with equal efficiency for a given installation. So, how do you define what is the "correct" rotation?

Re: Maxprop classic gen 1 rotation

Your statement that the prop works efficiency in either rotation is correct. Now set the prop up as a right hand prop......now the shaft needs to be rotated clockwise to go into forward. I think you should be able to understand?? Putting the gear into forward usually means you go forward and the shifting your gear lever to the stern puts you into reverse.... it really is a pretty simple concept. I can make a left hand prop make my boat go forward if I run in REVERSE. Not advised!!....unless maybe the transmission can be run hard in reverse??

Ahh! By this do you mean that if the shaft is rotated CW the blades assume the position to drive the boat forward? I guess I failed to recognize that this is an optional setting... silly me.

Got it now.

Re: Maxprop classic gen 1 rotation

I've got a 3-Blade Classic on my Cascade that originally had an older Volvo MD2b Engine that was LH turn. Major prop walk in reverse with this setup. After I repowered to a M25xpb with RH turn the prop walk vanished. Same prop for both setups just had to get the new cone setting from PYI.

As shown in the manual, the same prop can be setup for either right hand or left hand rotation.
