maneCraft sternshaft seal leak

Hello!

I have a leaking manecraft type em water lubricated stern shaft seal.

The boat has been still in the water for four months with no leakage and now when I drived for a 20 minutes it started to leak. I can see some rust in the O-sealing.

I am planning secure the emergency clip and to clean the O-rings with alcohol.


I was wondering that does anyone know is it possible to use the emergency clip many times or is it designed for just one use?

And is alcohol the best substance to clean the O-ring with?
The manual says that the O-rings are made of phosphor bronze.

Actually after some google and phone call to John Crane I also found out that the seal is nowdays made by wärtsilä. I contacted them also. Now waiting for a answer It´s good to have a person with a name insted of info@something.something. I´ll try again.

And the seal is now called small DSS ManeCraft shaft seal
