How to Assist an Hydraulic Tiller

Hi,

First of all, I'm french and my English is not always perfect !
I'm sailing on an 30 meters' old sailing boat (www.bateauarawak.com) and we have a direct hydraulic tiller. The wheel command directly the hydraulic cylinder without any assistance.
It's hard to move and there is more than 20 turns from one side to other which makes harbour manoeuvers sometimes difficult !
I would like to assist the system with an hydraulic pump links to the engine, but I have no idea of the entire modifications envolved.
I suppose that just add a pump is not enought ! Can I keep my actual wheel system ? What components do I have to add ? Etc ...

Thanks a lot for your help.
