Bluestocking's bearing is buried in the shaft log tube, which consists of inner stuffing box and outer bearing receiver, both threaded into a bronze
tube. Bearing outer size is 49.5mm, and is difficult to remove from the exterior. 2 bearing ago, I decided to change to 2 " ( 53mm ), and have it machined to 49.5mm, except for the last 1/2" of its length. This allows me to push the bearing up against a shoulder, which gives me something to get the Stilson on to wring the bearing loose. Now takes 1/2 an hour to change.
