Re: Bristol 34 cutless replacement

I replaced my cutlass, stuffing box, and new shaft when I purchased my B 32 over ten years ago. If the 34 is like the 32, then access to the coupling and stuffing box is quite difficult, thus adding a lot of time to the job. It's a good idea to inspect all and be prepared to replace some older parts. Find out if your yard has done this job on the B 34 previously, as it helps. Other B 34 owners will probably be your best source of info.

Thanks. Yeah it does look like it's in a difficult area to get to. Design engineers always seem to not consider the maintenance aspect when designing systems. He'll they won't have to do the work! I'll ask if they have done this before to give me a warm fuzzy they know what it's going to take to do the job. If I clean out all the obstacles for easy access and use WD40 on the engine mounts beforehand that will ensure they will have an easy time doing the alignment I guess. Thanks again
