Couple of weeks ago I had a problem with the port
engine on my Bertram 33 with 3208 cats. The turbo went south on me so I replaced it with another one that I assume it was a rebuilt. Never saw a
core charge on the bill but the one that went bad had a piece inside it broke off and missing.
I installed it with new gaskets, hoses etc and had it running in the slip waiting for a day to take it out and make sure it was working ok.
I had the
boat out before and the
transmission worked fine with no problems. Shifted fine both forward and reverse.
Well after replacing the turbo and running it a couple of time I took the
boat out a couple of days ago and everything seemed to shirt good and was in a no wake zone so just couldn't run it fast. Well after clearing the wake zone i started shoving the throttle forward and every thing seemed to be working good. As we started picking up
RPM everything seemed normal and then it sounded like the trans was popping in and out of
gear so i pulled throttle back and it stopped doing it. I'm kind of at a loss and don't want to pull the trans out if i don't have to as its a pain to do. The trans was fixed 3 years back and was told it was rebuilt locally at a marina here in
Carrabelle,
Florida. I've checked the
oil level and it looks fine.
Was wondering if maybe letting it sit for a while without engaging trans might have caused a problem with a stick valve or pressure
regulator if there is one in there.
Funny it stops doing it with the power pulled back.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and if you know someone close to me that might be able to help, send me his name and
phone number.
