bell housing mercruiser

I just put in two new engines and two new stern drives mercurisers 5.7 with alpha 1. Now having used it 5 times last year they are telling me that I need two new transom assembly units. The bell housing is corroded with a hole in one of them. Can the bell housing unit be replaced without doing the entire transom assembly and taking the engine apart?
