I was recently recruited by a sailing "school" for the position of mate. It was made clear to me that it was not a paid position but tips were possible. The guy seemed like a shady character, wanted me to
charter his
boat for a day so I could show him I knew how to sail. I never called him back.
Any of you ever tip the mate on
fishing charters? The person tending to the rods and
fish? I do, well in fact, and I thought it was pretty standard. Is there a difference here? If anyone gets a tip, it's the guy actually sailing the
boat, not the licensed instructor.
