using my own sailboat as a charter boat

What is the training required to start a charter business. Like day sails or weekly charters in Canada?

The answer varies depending upon where and what type of boat.

Best to check with your local transport canada office.

It can get expensive.
Boat must comply with requirments for area and waters.

bare boat charters, simpler as long as boat meets construction requirments and has minimum required safty equipment. and is insured you are good to go.

Skipper must have at least a PCOC plesure craft operator card. or in case of small boats complet a simple pree brief.

Law gets more complicated if you charter with crew.

Bare boat charter, chartere can hire anyone as skipper as long as they have minimum PCOC. and are acceptable to insurance.

In order to carry fare paying passenger you must have a transport canada lisence the minimum is a minnor water master.

A PCOC plus marine first aid, MED A1 A2 (Marine Emergency duties) a seafare medical.

An exception to this is a sailing school vessel taking students out on a sailing course.

Transport Canada has a website where this is all covered.
