Training recommendation, Gran Canaria?

I am thinking on taking the first steps in sailing. I have very little experience in boat handling, as a diver I was mostly a passenger.

Considering its mild climate and moderate prices I'll most likely Gran Canaria as a destination. Any recommendation/experience where to take the RYA competent crew+day skipper class?

I live on Gran Canaria and can give sailing classes. Sailing classes.

If you are into certifications, there used to exist two decent RYA courses here - one based in la Gomera (San Sebastian), the other based in Rubicon (on Lanzarote). None in Gran Canaria, as far as I know. (Except there may be something based in Mogan, which is all they way away from here).

If they are still around, take the Rubicon one.

Thanks! Yes, I want a certification too, in the meantime I found these guys in Mogan: https://www.aistrac.com/Day-Skipper-...aria-id3-crses - I haven't done any travel/accommodation arrangements yet, distance from the airport wouldn't be an issue, just need to book an appartment nearby.

Thanks! I would like a certification too. I found an RYA-school in Mogan, they look interesting. "Distance" (from Las Palmas) is not an issue for me, I haven't made any accommodation arrangements yet. Gomera is interesting too, I've been there a few times on a family holiday. Although that setting would need a rental car+ferry ride too.

Canary sail on La Gomera are worth a look.
Easy to get to from Tenerife airport, bus then ferry.
Beautiful island as well.

Indeed a beautiful green island, have been there 3 times. If I was only sailing, I wouldn't hesitate. I am also diving, and diving on GC is better (on LG I saw one single diving op - closed when I was there, Tenerife was a low-vis disaster when I dove there 2 years ago) - I need to balance the two

I took a course there xmas 2014 to 2015.
Absolutely recommendable.
I am not merried to anybody of them. I am from Germany. The school is run by British, but they speak Spanish as well. Very nice and professionell.

Canary Sail are awesome. Did Coastal Skipper with them, and got great education, great time, and a lot of sailing between Tenerife and La Gomera (wind accelertion zone). I still cherish having done 30-35 knot crossings with an instructor, several times, it really boosted my confidence level.

We did our RYA DaySkipper there. Andy (school owner) is very experienced, he probably learned sailing before he could walk, and was always trying to make our stay as pleasant as possible. In deed, absolutely recommendable, very professional and certainly worth consideration if you are looking for proper training/certification.
