Realize that we could search a ton of previous threads, but am hoping to consolidate specific resources/recommends given our situation.
My friend and I are moderately experienced sailors. I have lived aboard boats, chartered, and currently own a
Cal 39 and regularly
cruise the
Pacific Northwest. I do not have any certifications. My friend has chartered quite a bit both solo and with sailing instructors, but also does not have any formal
certification.
We want to do a 7-12 day (approx)
offshore trip that ends up somewhere warm, in order for our families to meet us at the end. Basically -- our wives do not want to go
offshore, but they'd love a
vacation anyplace warm.
Also, we want the trip to include
training that counts. Count towards what? Well that's the rub... we're agnostic on which schools are better/best, etc.
Yes, I realize these parameters are both very specific and also vague.
Long term, my friend wants to
live aboard and sail in the
Med, and I've never gone offshore and want to maximize the
learning. We just want the time and cost to lead to OR build towards, some sort of
certification, and end in a lovely
destination where our wives/kids could meet us for a
vacation.
Given this -- any specific schools or recommendations or itins we should consider? Appreciate it!
