Sailing Lessons wanted- Miami
I have a hunter 33 in Miami and would like to get some lessons in order to master its maneuver/electronics and gain confidence on the boat. Any captain in this forum interested?

Give Gary a call at the link below. I took a couple of lessons two years ago to find out if wanted to sail. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...26iRrcvgwyWbrg

Re: Sailing Lessons wanted- Miami
I guess, but why don't you just get in the damn thing and go! That's what 99.99% of all sailors who have ever lived did. The biggest boat I ever owned was a Hoby 14 then one day a business associated said "You're a sailor aren't you? I just foreclosed on a Columbia 57 will you baby site it for a year? Sail it all you want." Hell yes. We raced it cruised it all over the Hawaiian Islands.

Re: Sailing Lessons wanted- Miami
The get in it and go idea kind of works. Worked for me 40 years go on my 19 ft lightening. But when I bought my first hunter 27, I was very lucky to have a salesman teach me. A true yacht racer and sail trim expert he was. Even though I new how to sail from my lightening and sunfish days. I have 40 years experience now. A knowledgeable teacher is worth a lot, to give you the fine points, including basic systems. Sail trim to racing specs. Makes a big difference etc. If I could arrange it, I would love to teach you. Take a North U Fast Course if you can. As soon as I retire, I will teach sailing..

Brummel, you are on a great patch of water for learning to sail! Where are you docked/moored? I recommend that you visit MYC, CGSC, BBYC, or CRYC and make friends with some sailors there. Beyond that, just motor our in the bay on a nice day, hoist the sails, and see what happens.

Re: Sailing Lessons wanted- Miami
I could sail a dinghy a bit (self taught) but my wife, a teacher wanted lessons and I went along too. Wow, what a lot I didn't know.
Since then we went to night school and did RYA Yachtmaster courses. We went on J24 race training in Cowes which helped a lot when racing a world champion 1/4 tonner.
Go get some training but don't be put off by them that say you can't sail without a bit of paper. There is no substitute for practical experience, so go do both.
