RYA Fast Track Yachtmaster Offshore (Boss, UKSA, Hamble or South Africa?)

Hi Folks,

I've narrowed down the schools where I can take the Fast track RYA Yachtmaster Offshore course and wanted to see if anyone has thoughts on specific schools. In England, there's Hamble, UKSA and Boss. Although I keep hearing there are good South African schools, their fast track options don't seem as lengthy or indepth as the English ones (2 Oceans, Ocean Star, Yachtmaster Sailing).

I'm a young American who has plenty of crewing experience, has taken the intro ASA sailing classes and does not own a boat. I have no interest in joining the sailing industry and I don't have access to a boat owner who can take me to the Caribbean to learn, as some people have suggested I do. My primary interest in taking a fast track course would be to be able to take a boat out on my own in the Med, Caribbean or elsewhere.

I did mine at Ocean Sailing Academy in South Africa... I strongly recommend doing it down there...

HiJust done my YM coastal mca after a prep week at Cornish cruising, excellent tuition, my friend has just completed his YM ocean with them on the fast track from zero to hero, would recommend the English Channel as it has most of the challenges required for learning.

Anyone heard anything about the Yachtmaster fast track in Malaysia & Thailand? (google - rya Malaysia)

To charter a boat you need the RYA Day Skipper certification which you can then convert to an ICC. The Day Skipper course is 5 days. Yachtmaster requires a lot more work, preparation and time at sea.
