Radio station & operator licensing

I am a recreational cruiser with VHF and SSB, and I have a General HAM license. Two questions: (1) Since I already have a HAM license, do I still need a Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit?; (2) Will the FCC assign me an MMSI when I apply for my Ship Station Permit, or do I have to obtain the MMSI in a separate application?

Don't know about the Ham license, but when you get a ship station license you get an MMSI as well. Can't remember if you have to ask for it specifically when you apply.

Have done that a couple of time and the MMSI was assigned on the same request.
Not sure a ham license have anything to do with an FCC operators license.
Some years ago I sat for the (brief and easy) exam for a Marine Radio Operator's Permit, it covers private and commercial, Domestic and International, VHF and SBB and does not expire. Go for it.
