Opportunities to train/learn

Hi,

As an older person who knows the theory and has up to ASA 104, what are good opportunities on the US East coast to learn and get practice? I live in Canada but want to fly to the US in Winter (Florida or so) to get some hands on practice.

The goal is to get ready for next summer to charter a 36+ft boat with friends.

Things I thought of:

- Step 1: Fly south, charter smaller boats for day sails on a daily basis for one week
- Step 2: Again fly south, and learn on a bigger boat; but how, what, where?

- Step X: When we do the longer charter next summer, we could take a skipper for the first week, to provide training.

Any suggestions on my plan, or on the how, what, where?

Cheers,
Qu.
