Its a bit of a judgement call by the instructor grading the test, but I usually use +/- 1° for bearings etc, +/- 0.1 kts for speed, +/- 0.1° for fixes. Given the scale of a 1200 TR chart and the usually less than ideal working
environment I think thats reasonable. I also look at whether the student had a good understanding of what they were doing and review their chart
work. If their answer was a little off, but their
work was basically good then I give them partial credit on the question.
