Hi Mike,

There are several in the marina. The school I used was California Sailing Academy right upstairs from The Ships Store on Panay Way. What exactly are you looking to do? I live aboard in the marina and will be glad to help you find what you need.

For the rest of you, I think we're talking about the Marina del Rey which is a very large marina in southren Calif. in the LA area.
I don't know the answer to the question, but was wondering how many slips there are. I'd heard there were over 6,000. Also how many yacht clubs in Marina Del Ray?

Marina Del Rey is the largest man made marina in the country. It is located in Los Angeles county just north of Los Angeles Airport (LAX) and ajacent to Venice Beach.

There were over 6000 slips when the marina was built. However, over the past several years the slip count has been reduced as sections of the marina are renovated and larger slips are installed reducing the number of overal slips. It's been a huge point of contention between the boating community and the local government agencies.

There are at least 6 yacht clubs in the marina ranging from the very traditional and expensive to the do-it-yourself type clubs that are quite affordable. I belong to Pacific Mariners Yacht Club, which is one that is about midway between the two extrems.
