Learning in a MC Scowl

I took a weekend keel boat course to start off my sailing adventure. That was fun and I learned a few things. But I'm told to really learn sailing you have to get in a dinghy. I have my eye on a MC Scowl.

How hard is it for a novice to sail one? Is it less prone to capsize than a Laser? I plan on getting wet, but would like to minimize the occasions!

The scow will need a trailer. It'll cost a bit more to maintain. It weighs four times a Laser. You can sit in the scow, and have space for a cooler.

How old are you? I had a laser-like boat as a teenager; I was athletic. Too much for 74 year old muscles.

Doing it now, definitely the scow.

Looks like a great boat for lake/protected water sailing, some creature comforts but with racing potential. Cost may be a big factor as I'm sure they aren't cheap and hard to find used while old Lasers are laying around everywhere. Learned to sail on a Sailfish, similar ergonomics to a Laser but sure I wouldn't find it as much fun to sail and would appreciate the scow way more.
