International Registration

Hi all,
When I purchased Njord she was registered under a Norwegian flag. I am trying to complete an Australian international registration and one of the requirements of AMSA, the regulating body, is that iIneed proof that she was deleted from the Norwegian registry. I have not had any experience of international registration so not quite sure where to start. Hopefully someone with more international experience may be able to point me in a starting direction.

Thanks

Russ

Re: International Registration

Google "Norwegian ship registration" and it appears that they have two registries, one of which appears to be handled by local courts which are listed. If the vessel has it's home port displayed you could try emailing the relevant court for assistance.

Here is a link to the registry web site:

https://www.sdir.no/en/shipping/regi...r/ship-search/

there are two registries one called NIS and one called NOR.
Your boat is almost certainly in the NOR registry.

The folks there are fluent in English and are very helpfull.

Hi guys, I have a question, I have been looking for a second-hand sailboat for a long time and there are many options in several countries but my question is, what papers or documents do they ask me if I buy the sailboat in Holland or the USA?

Not sure I understand the question. The buyer is not typically asked for any paperwork.

When buying a boat in any country other than your own all you need is passport and visa (if applicable) to get in.. then the bank draft/whatever to pay for the boat.
To get it out you need registration, insurance, bill of sale and in so cases sailing qualifications.

Re: International Registration

Thank you so much Boatman for your answer, Is there a kind of international license to sail? I mean, I can do my navigation license in my country, but is it valid in another country? or I have to do some kind of international license that authorizes me to bring the boat to my country?

In the majority of cases, no - but it's country specific, so you need to check for your specific situation (where you are buying and where you are taking the boat to)
