I need a radio license???

Some countries, like Spain, require a "radio license" for a boat to have a radio. So, do I remove the radio and hide it before I enter Spain, then get my semaphore flags ready? What is the procedure?

Go to fcc.gov, get your mmsi, ship's station license and your limited operators license and you are good to go for some 10 years.

In case it's not clear, you don't need a Spanish radio license in Spain; you need a license from your home country, per international treaties. Applies to relationships with most countries, maybe all countries. (Assuming you have a radio.)

The are dispensations if you stay within U.S. waters.
