Re: How Does DWI and other Convictions Effect Licensing?
I was shocked to read the rules governing entry into Canada. Are there similar rules in other countries? Does US apply the same rules to entry from Canada? And the fact that there is an expedited process around the rule, for $200, makes me suspicious that this is more of a revenue generator than a principled point of view.

Don't worry, they make sure the reverse is far worse for anyone even passing through the US on route to elsewhere, complete with revenue generation and general absurdity.
Re: How Does DWI and other Convictions Effect Licensing?
A DUI is a felony in Canada but is not in the US so it is a PIA to get in. My friend was turned away at the border when he was going to drive to Alaska. That DUI was only a few years old, though. He had to fly.
W had to jump through hoops to enter Canada as President because of a DUI so it can happen to anyone. I wonder if he was considered "deemed rehabilitated"?
