Boat license

Hi all.

We are new to Australia, specifically Aldinga Beach, SA.

We are keen fisherman and would like to buy a tinny or bigger in the near future. Where do you recommend we start, getting the boat license that is? I see the options are theory exam at SA gov or just doing a qualifying course.

What would you guys recommend, the gov way ot the course/certificate way? Also uncertain which course would be best for us.

Any suggestions on most time effective and costly option getting out boat license please??

You might be better putting this question in a forum that is more focussed on fishing than cruising.

Anyway, what I suggest is joining your local fishing club.
They will probably have lots of people willing to help out and may even run “new to boating” classes.

Vans I am not sure how it works down your way but here in Queensland you need the government licence to operate a boat. Once you have done the course then they put an indorsement on your licence.
If the SA course is like the Queensland course then its a bit of a joke. My competent 12 year old daughter could pass the Queensland course it's that easy.
