What Boat to Buy?

So I'm looking for another boat to leave down south, (glutton for punishment).
I'm looking in the 40-50 foot range to live aboard in the winter months so I need an aft cabin and a dining area and diesel motors.
Any comments on any of theses boats or any others that you know of for sale down south in the US are welcome-
Also I'd be interested on what types of diesel are the best to look out for.
Heres what I have to look at right now in my price range-
41 Silveton
44 Tollycraft
52 Vista
43 Carver
46 Wellcraft

There are probably owners clubs for those brands -- certainly there is one for Silvertons ($25 annual fee) -- so you could join some of those and ask for input.

We have Cummins 450Cs, and I'm happy with 'em. Other diesel owners have Volvos and Yanmars, a few Cats, all seem equally happy. Probably not too many of the older Detroit 2-strokes unless some of those boats are from '80s or older...
