Small Express Cruiser Portland to Seattle

I'm considering taking my 25' Express Cruiser (Four Winns Vista 255) from Portland up to Seattle and the San Juans. I've done the trip multiple times in sailboats but never in a power boat. Does anyone have any experience doing this trip in a similar boat and have any advice on things to look out for?

Thanks for any responses.

Re: Small Express Cruiser Portland to Seattle

There should be many old posts on this subject.
I make the trip 25 miles out for a better ride and fewer crab pot buoys. Swells increase in height and get closer together as the depth becomes shallower. They also get worse around major headlands.
With your boat, I'd wait for very good weather.

Portland to Olympia on I5 ~ 100 miles.
Portland to Astoria, ~75 miles.
Looking at the price of gas, it might be cheaper to truck the boat to Olympia and start a cruise from there.
A lot safer too.
