Powerpilot PH8000

Can someone tell me if it is possible to install a rudder angle indicator guage on my Navco Powerpilot PH8000 ? A lot of the rudder guages can be added to autopilots but I can't find anything out about mine.
I have the junction box diagrams but it gives no info for rudder guage hook up. Any info would be a big help .

I have a Navico PH8000 on my small trawler that uses a rudder position indicator . It runs from the unit mounted on the rudder and connects to the control box and a VDO indicator on the dash.

Tom do you know the wire hook up from the junction box to the guage?

Hi Tom
That would be great . I have called a company in BC Canada today and got no help.
I spent 5 hrs on the net and that was a waste of time. If you can help me I will buy a VDO indicator as I no yours works.
Thanks again Tom.
PS Tom where are you located?

DT,

Have you tried COMNAV. I used to install their APs, and I am pretty sure their RDI units will work as "stand-alone", or with a control head output signal.

DT. I did talk to them yesterday in BC. Canada and the tech was no help.
I also talked to Dave Woolum at PSI Company and he told me about Comnav.
Thanks for your help.

Ken,
I have not forgotten you! Just got busy with other projects. I am going to have to pull a panel off tomorrow to try to trace the wires from the VDO gauge. I did pull the cover off the control panel but that didn't help.
My rudder position is relayed to the unit by a rudder sensor at the motor..its an outboard but I just don't remember how it is wired at the control box.
The control unit at the pump just burned out on mine this month. I don't know if I will try to find parts for it or replace the whole unit. The last time I needed a flux gate compass, I really had a difficult time finding the part. Navico no longer supports the unit as it is so old.
