Power Yacht ownership -

I am thinking about buying a 38' or maybe a 51'. They do all of the maintenance, keep your yacht at Hodges Creek base on the island of Tortola BVI with our professional MarineMax team, supply the insurance and you have basically zero operating costs. You get up to 9 weeks to use.

Anyone have any recommendations?

My advise would be to read the contract very, very carefully. If there is any part of it that you don't fully understand, take the time, and pay the money, to have an attorney look it over and explain it to you.

Yes you get to use it, but it would be difficult for most working stiffs to use it for nine weeks. And at the end of your charter contract, in 3 to 5 years you can keep it or sell it for half or less than what you paid for it.

If you want to own a yacht like that, buy a 5 year old one that has not been in charter. It will more than likely be in much better condition.

In summary you are spending half of the new boat's cost for the privilege of using it for nine weeks each year.
