I'm thinking about buying a 54ft 2000 from an estate sale for a rebuild.

Re: Ocean Alexander Yachts

If the boat was owned by an older person, it may have not had much wear and tear. The engine hours should be a big clue.

Re: Ocean Alexander Yachts

I have an old Ocean Alex Ocean 44. The older ones are very stout. I added a through hull and the hull is over 2" of solid fiberglass. It is one of the few Taiwanese builders that from the old days that is still in business under their original name. They still support the old boats which I take as a good sign.

Looking at buying a 2000 54ft for a rebuild. I'm looking for anyone that has one that wants to sell it for parts.

Re: Ocean Alexander Yachts

Why does a 2000 model require a "rebuild"? What do you plan on doing?

The boat has gone unattended for about six years following a small fire in the galley. All the soft goods are trashed, needs to have all the interior upgraded and the engines due to just sitting need to be completely gone over.

If I move ahead this will be the fifty fifth boat we have rebuilt.

You might try asking on trawlerforum (sister site), too, since more of the folks there are power oriented...

I agree. Trawler forum is more of a power boat site and just trawlers would be a better. Trawler Forum

Woow! 55th rebuild?
