Also, with the type and amount of props this vessel has(not sure of the length, haven't seen anything regarding it here) but this boat is most likely a fast vessel similar to a large crew boat.
As I said before, I doubt this is built for ice. Though it could be classed for ice due to the broad range SS goes globally. Regarding the bow, I also strongly doubt it is filled with concrete or any besides air. Added deadweight on any vessel is backwards thinking. It cause more hull drag and the bow to sit lower in the water which causes extra fuel burn and slower speeds. Not to mention it takes away from the amount of actual cargo it can hold. It is most likely reinforced dead space because it is, up to the where the house begins, all collision zone and a forepeak storage space with chain locker.

It's not built to cut ice no. It was commissioned to take the bangs of growlers etc in broken ice fields.
And SS has grown up a lot in the last decades since its founding a when they deliberately rammed the Siera. Now days they recognise the disaster that could occur in the southern oceans if a fuel oil vessel like used by the Japanese was to be sunk. They are also outsized to be deliberately ramming much bigger vessels.

From article, it is a 175' fast vessel making speeds of 30 kts. That's is your typical oil industry crew boat size and speed here in the Gulf of Mexico.
I work down here on a 300' OSV, so I see them daily. Though, no axe bow fast vessels yet to make it down here, just the traditional bows.

This from the tobacco industry PR firm website- "The ships are fitted with water cannons, a concrete-filled bow made for ramming, and an attachment dubbed the “can opener” that can tear open a boat’s hull."

i know it's a ketch, still the sail area looks small in relation to the hull.
the large PH might be deceiving.
maybe i've seen to many Herreshoff designs lately

Of course, that's why I said ice classed before and earlier in the thread. Which if it does have an ice class cert then it may probably be a lower level.

I know it's Wikipedia, but here is a general description of ice classes.

Re: New Ocean Warrior is a Beauty
Well, Pete Bethune has started a kickstarter for a new boat.
Talk about dead weight, I never cared much for the ear thingies sticking out of the top of the original Earthrace. Looks like they make their appearance again on the proposed Earthrace 2.
Can anybody give me a function for these things so that I can stop hating them so much?

Is he going to let the new one get so easily rammed and then scuttle it
Might have something to do with its Areo dynamic needs?

Re: New Ocean Warrior is a Beauty
Nice rendering BTW. If Earthrace 2 gets built I hope it doesn't drag around that much wake!

Re: New Ocean Warrior is a Beauty
Ear thingies are I assume a styling feature, but maybe could serve as air induction for the engines, a snorkel if you will?

A similarly designed boat is near the fuel dock at Marina Tahiana in Papeete. I think it looks great.

Wow. That's one cool private yacht! Did you get a name? I'd love to see if I could find how it is outfitted.
