Need thruhull seacock handle

The handle on one of my 2006 PDQ 34' catamaran engine thruhull seacock broke off. Any idea where I can purchase a replacement handle? The boat is out of the water now for its annual bottom paint job. I need to find one before putting the boat back in the water. 2006 PDQ 34' catamarine

Re: Need thruhull seacock handle

I'm not sure. I recently bought the boat and cannot find any info on the seacock model. Here are two photos.

I believe you need 10 posts before being able to post a photo. Perhaps the mods will give you special dispensation. PS. I did all the tonnage measurements for those boats registered (documented) in Canada.

Thanks for the info... I wondered if they would show up later. Guess not. I'll try to get the Brand/Model from elsewhere.

Is it a plastic (marelon) seacock or a bronze one?

Re: Need thruhull seacock handle

It's black plastic with a square "face" attached with 4 screws. The hose attached is 3/4" I think. I'll have to measure all of it later today to be sure.

The manufacturer of the boat could probably tell you who manufactured the seacock and the model/size. You might be able to match the handle to a valve at a plumbing supply store or home center. Buy the valve and just use the handle.

You should be able to operate the seacock with a wrench or you can use the handle from another seacock on the boat. These would be temporary solutions but would allow you to put the boat back in the water if you want to.

Of course, if the handle broke because the seacock was stuck, that's a more serious issue and you should take care of this before you put the boat back in the water.

Re: Need thruhull seacock handle

PDQ, the Canadian boat manufacturer, went belly up in about 2010. They are not alive now. I'm also working with the shipyard where the boat is being bottom painted now to identify the valve and replace the handle. (Note: the ball valve is fine -- we just lubricated and tested it a few days ago.)

Re: Need thruhull seacock handle

I think that is right. The photo you (PCMM) sent appears to match my photos. But, when I looked for it on the Forespar site, I could not find one that matched this photo. What am I missing? Is there only ONE Forespar model?

They're not the easiest to find. That's the primary reason I abandoned the idea of using them when I replaced all of my seacocks. they're all "special order items" pretty much!

Re: Need thruhull seacock handle

I think that is IT! How is the size of the valve determined? Marelon makes several sizes. I can't see any size or model info on the valve in the boat. Is it based on the size of the hose attached to it or the diameter of the thruhull opening? Or both?

Re: Need thruhull seacock handle

Rather than try to replace the handle on that "disaster" waiting to happen, I would look on eBay and buy a used bronze seacock made by Wilcox-Crittenden, Spartan or Groco.

Shifting cargo, an errant foot placement while climbing around inside the engine compartment or whatever could cause that whole seacock to break away and I don't see any softwood cone-shaped plug hanging on the seacock that one would use to plug the hole left the the broken seacock.
