This wouldn't quite fit my requirements. Fuel consumption would be too high, but this is the style of boat I like...

41' Litton - $19,000

Of course, who knows what all is wrong with it... I'm not seriously considering it, just posting it to show what my tastes are in boats.

@easterly - I should look at those. I'm thinking that most motorcruisers don't get the fuel efficiency of a sailboat, so I still lean towards a converted sailboat. But the motorcruiser might well be a good compromise. The ultimate would be a motorsailer that has the tankage and efficiency I need to just leave it as a motorsailer. That is, if the mast is realitively easily stepped. Now that you've posted it, it seems the obvious thing to look at.

@fastcat - So, you gonna sell me one for less than $50,000 including electronics, etc.? (Very first post set the budget...). You're kinda fast on the draw in posting your sales pitch, aren't you?

Hallo Dagust
there is no sales pitch here since we are not selling this cat in the next 2 years.
Only after extensive testing and that will take 2 years we will start selling

We rented a Fountaine Pajot 37 Powercat from Atlantic Global Yachts www.atlanticglobalyachts.com for a Bahamas cruise and were quite pleased with the boat. I don't think it has the range you seek but it's worth looking at. Hope this helps.

I am not familar with the term continous engine. Sounds like a different design than say a regular diesel like perkins, detroit, yanmar etc.

I have seen several sail to power converisons. One had the mast removed and a hard top installed. One had a shortened mast to use a cut down sail for stabilty, good idea I think. Both had the keel cut down All in all seems like a good idea if money is a consideration, and when is it not?

You don't happen to know of any websites about one of these conversions, do you? I think the stabilizing sail is a good idea.
