My trip viewing Nimble Kodiak motor sailors

Recently I took a few trips to look at Nimble Kodiaks.

The story is here
Looking around at Nimble Kodiak Motor Sailors

Conclusion: I prefer those with outboards.

Re: My trip viewing Nimble Kodiak motor sailors

In October 2018 I flew & drove to Lake Tahoe to see a Nimble Kodiak.
This one had an electric motor which although environmentally friendly, the range on the motor was about 10 miles

in November 2018 I drove down to Brownsville Texas to see a Nimble Kodiak
I was impressed with the headroom. It had a nine horse power gas engine.

On my way north, towards Austin I spied a Kodiak for sale in Rockport. The owner was refurbishing it. It looked OK. Same layout as the other Kodiaks, but it had a Yanmar 8 hp diesel under the stair into the cabin.

It would seem that servicing this engine would be difficult. Plus the cabin reeked of diesel fuel.

The Kodiak at 24 foot seems to be comfortable. They were each fitted with a porta potti closet which doubled as a shower.

Both boats were fitted with a winch behind and below the starboard side windscreen which opened to allow the winch to be used to raise the mast.

The owner had removed the mast and simply used it as a motor cruiser.

I now own a 26 foot Nimble Artic. Which has a flush toilet and black water storage tank but unlike the Kodiaks, there is no shower. It also lacks a winch for raising and lowering the mast.

each boat has a shoal keel and dagger board, they draw 18" with the board up 5' with the dagger board down. They come with specially built two axle trailers with surge brakes.

Re: My trip viewing Nimble Kodiak motor sailors

October 2021 I got a link from my Google Alert for a Nimble Artic in Fort Meyers Florida. I called the Broker. I had her surveyed.
There were several problems so I was able to negotiate the price down 10k
I bought her. I now sail her.

What a fun trailer sailor! Thank you for sharing, I had never seen one before.
