Madagascar to Nosy Be.

I mean planning on taking my 50ft power catamaran across from richards bay up to Mozambique then across to Madagascar.

Can anyone advise if the trip is OK to do from the 8th June?
I have had conflicting stories from skippers at different marinas.

This will be my first long trip. It is a brand new build.

Re: Madagascar to Nosy Be.

apart from the obvious limitation of your fuel range, and finding fuel stops, the cyclone season in the Mozambique chanel is over, being winter in southern Africa, leaving with a strong SW or NE is going to be rough,so you will need to pick your weather for leaving very carefully.
however the further north you get the calmer conditions, with SE winds predominate and calms, will prevail, possibly a good idea , with a good window is to cross to southern mada at the earliest opurtunity then carry on north to nosey be'under the lee of the mainland with numerous overnight stops at reefs and island just off the west coast of mada.

hovever care must be taken when close inshore for the powerful squalls that arrive with a change in wind direction if anchored in the lee of some anchorages that can quickly become unteanable at night,as the land cools.
