Liveaboard Power Cats in the 30 to 36ft range,, are there any?

I was wondering if there are any good models the price used might not be to high. I have not looked for a long time and wonder what might be out there.
Im thinking of a Power Cat because I don't want to mess with sails and rigging, I have done my share of sailing. Just looking for something to cruise around Florida coast with and not have to much draft.

PDQ 34 would be a good place to start. $175/250,000. Beth Simkins at Rhumb Line Yacht Sales in Stuart Fl is the expert on those boats.

If speed is not your reason for wanting a powercat, there are other relatively shallow draft options. The Willard 40 below is about 4-foot draft but has a full keel so the running gear is very well protected. I have 'felt' my way into shallow anchorages and such with my Willard 36. A good friend has a 52-foot powercat with about the same draft but his exposted props means he has an effective limit of about 6-7 feet before he bails out on an approach.

Reliable 7-1/2 kt boat burning about 2.5 gph. Just depends on what your priorities are.

Endeavourcat 36, both sail and power options.
36' OAL, 15'beam, draws 3' in the sail version with sail drives.
Not sure about Trawlercat, the power version's draft. They may all have Yanmars with direct drive.
Our 36' sail cat with V-P MD 2020s burns < gal/hour @ 6 kts.
The Endeavourcat40' Trawlercat is a very commodious option too.
You'll not win any regattas, but they are very solidly built.

I second the Endeavour’s. We have a 44 and while it may be larger than what your looking for, I can certainly speak to the quality and features. They are designed by people who spend lots of time on the water. They are spacious and space is well used. The folks at Endeavour, including Bob Vincent (president/owner) are a phone call away and are always extremely helpful. I Didn’t buy my boat new so I am speaking from experience.

For some reason, I think the PDQs are more attractive than the Endeavour cats, but it appears the Endeavour 44s are priced very similarly to the PDQ 34s in the used market, so offer more volume per dollar.

I agree with Maldwin’s comments about the appearance between PDQ and Endeavour. One concern I had with PDQ (although I’m sure not all models), engine access was achieved by raising the steps at the transom of each hull. I’ve never broken down at the dock and couldn’t imagine trying to access an engine in open water

I think the engine access is from the interior, under the bunk on the PDQ 34. My understanding is that it is a little tight, but we are talking about a 2 stateroom 34 ft boat with a separate stall shower, generator in a fwd machinery room, so something has to give!

Production powercats of 30-36":

• Fountaine Pajot Greenland 34
• Fountaine Pajot Highland 35
• Fountaine Pajot MY37 (is 36.1 LOA)
• PDQ 34
• Aquilla 38 (is 37 LOA)

So not many to choose from unless you go non-production.

I'd say the PDQ34 would be perfect for your requirements except for price and availability - there weren't 1000's built. An older Greenland perhaps. There's a few Maryland 37's around Florida as well that would work but are slightly longer than your 36.

If you aren't worried about double digit speeds, you could also consider a sail cat and just remove the mast.

When we did the Great Loop about 1/3 the mast was on deck essentially making it a trawler cat...and it worked great.

Unfortunately it's Facebook so not easy to share the video, but this is what looks to be a Catalac presumably with some big outboards on it. Seems to be moving very well.

Should be doable on any old catamaran if you stick some tabs or foils on the stern, and have enough power.

The 8M Catalacs are so cheap they are almost given away. The cost is the engines.

Have a small power catamaran boat and love it. Looking for a larger one with cabin like you (32-38 foot range) and with outboards. Want to cruise the Florida coast as well. Trialed an Aquila 36 and didn't like it, really just a day boat. Would love an Endeavor with twin outboards. Good luck.

I wouldn't call her a comfy "liveaboard" - but I've been aboard and lived...I guess that's the same thing.

38' x 14' x 2'9". Aluminum construction. Designed by Scott Jutson - you'd have to discuss whether he could fit that into 36' if that was an outer limit.
