Talking Instrument Gauges and Swim Platforms

My 1993 24.5 Four Winns Vista requires some new gauges. I feel it is best to replace all because of age. I was told they dont make them anymore and would have to buy new ones and modify as required. Is this correct?
Also, want to add a swim platform to my existing. What do you suggest.

Can't say anything about the gauges, no experience, sorry. The swim platform I can perhaps help a little. Looking at it, I'd think it highly likely that its cored, either with ply, balsa or solid wood. Any holes you make in it need to be 'potted'. An over-sized hole drilled, then filled with epoxy and faired out over the surface. The mounting holes are then drilled through the epoxy. Strong 'big' backing plates will help to prevent flexing and leaking into the core but over time it's likely that you'll still get water intrusion.

Swim Platform: Take a look at these. They list one for your model, but not a picture. I have a friend who installed one. I'm strongly considering one for my boat as well.

Guages: What type of guages do you have now? The manufacturer will probably have a suggested replacement for them. Faria and Teleflex make a large variety of replacement guages.

Four winns experimented with automotive cluster looking gauge panels on some of the boats. The later one was made by VDO and had a digital window on the lower inboard (left) side that had several functions like depth, hour, clock, and odometer using mode and set buttons located on the dash. I am not sure about the Vista. Do you have individual gauges or a cluster?

The depth is individual. Then there is 2 separate clusters. One for RPM/MPH directly behind sterring wheel & another for oil/temp/etc on right hand side.

Good news... You do not have the auto style clusters. It is very likely that Faria or Bede made the gauges you have. Google them and youcan get replacements or close. The senders are often the issue on the gauges. What exacyly is the problem?

I do not like the look of a swim ladder so I installed a dive n dog dive ladder. it is stored in the lazarette when not in use. The bracket stays under the swim platform pretty much out of sight
