Re: Florida USA - Matanzas inlet

Bings Landing was redone according to the sign in 2012. Dredged and new ramp and docks. That looks like a great place to launch for the day.

In the next week or so I want to checkout Ponce Inlet and St. Augustine Inlet. But if I launch at Bings Landing I will want to try Matanzas Inlet during a high tide.

Thanks for all responses.

Just remember if you go out Matanzas you will probably want to come back that way. Keep an eye out for sudden thunderstorms.
And falling tides.

Re: Florida USA - Matanzas inlet

I have seen boats beaches on the sand bars on purpose. I have had my receational power boats many times beached. Usually it was easy to get unbeached.

Only one time when I was trying to pull another boat out of the shallow water on a very windy day did I feel I could also get stuck in shallow water.

Outboard motors can be raised quite high (one of the advantages of an outboard) and still propel the boat.

Also I should be able to see the deeper water correct?

Will there always be a channel of will sand sometimes block the whole inlet?

I plan to take a chair and some shade and watch boats over the 4th of July holiday. I would imagine the water ways will be hoping with activity.

I used to be out in that 4th of July need but now like I said...I will just observe.
