I am offering a $5,000 finders fee to anyone who introduces me to the boat that will be my first boat purchase. The boat must be a boat that I have NOT already seen and CANNOT be a boat that is listed on Yachtworld. I check Yachtworld every day for new listings, so I will see it myself. However, I sometimes miss boats that are posted on other boat for sale listing websites.
The reason that I came up with this reward idea was because when I was in Florida viewing the boat that I wanted to buy, but lost to someone else, the broker showed me a pocket-listing. (A pocket-listing is a boat that is not formerly listed for sale.) This boat was not for me, but gorgeous nonetheless. The broker told me that many good boats, never hit the market. They are sometimes held as pocket listings, such as the one that he showed me, and sometimes they are for sale by owner. I would never know about any of these boats. Therefore, I am offering this reward to anyone who can find my boat.
Looking for:
55-70′
Raised Pilothouse
At least 3 staterooms
Steel or Fiberglass
Trawler/Expedition Style
Long Range
Passagemaking Capability
List Price not to exceed around $600k

Late model
Very common Cat engine, and for engines this size Cat is the best.
Swings a big prop with tall pitch slowly, thanks to the Cat's 400 hp @ 1800 and deep reduction.
The "get home" engine drives a folding blade prop, so less drag when under power by the main engine.
Dual 2000 watt inverters, so some time out for the gen sets.
Commercial ship type hydraulic system, so all the heavy loads like thruster and anchor windlass can be run off of main engine instead of a bunch of separate electric motors that require their own dedicated batteries.
Laundry room (5 kids, right?) that also has the deep freezer.
(7) separate A/C systems for more economical zone type cooling.
I would have the floscan fixed, they are neat to have and will help you chose a speed for your desired range. Also on a vessel this heavy I would go with all chain for the anchor instead of the chain/nylon rode that it has.

Well at least you know that your friends here on CF and you are on a closer wavelength. You know I've been pushing cats, but the above mentioned boat I could get behind because how it was fitted out without expensive non functional frills that some seem to need in this class of boat. Money was spent on quality systems, not fancy joinery.

Re: Find My Boat - $5,000 REWARD!!!
GG,
When you find a boat that seems to be worth a closer look, do you ask the broker to email you the ad pictures in their native resolution? When I find a boat that interests me I'll download all the ad pictures and run them full screen. To save bandwidth, they reduce the resolution of the ad pictures, and you will see much better detail on a file size of 3~7 mb than the typical file size of 30~100 kb that is on the Boat dot com and other sites.

Kids are 4 and 6, so pretty entertaining for them.

But it won't meet her berth requirements. 5 kids and grandmom. That cat only has 3 staterooms.

Re: Find My Boat - $5,000 REWARD!!!
I think she said 3 plus crew's quarters which works out to 4. On the Dixon boat, 3 staterooms for 6, a crew's quarters for 3 and the watch berth in the pilothouse for 2, adding up to 11.
I'm been trying to steer her towards a cat in that range and longer and your right most will have the 4 berths.
