Does anyone see the beauty?

I Know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but really, does anyone see it here. Please feel free to enlighten me as to where the beauty is??

Here is the articleThe bizarre superyacht of the future | News.com.au

This one really has me scratching my head but as always if Santa left it under the tree I wouldn't say no, just why?

I thought it might be Disney's prototype for an upgraded Millennium Falcon in the new Disney franchise? I think Han would be unimpressed!

Couldn't be a Klingon design--most likely Romulan.

It looks more like a submarine. If it was, at least that would help hide the looks!

Speaking of ugly. Reminds me of a Nike Running Shoe...or it could be an Alliance Ship, Mal would love to destroy that.

Re: Does anyone see the beauty?

I might enjoy something like that at MOMA but sure doesn't look like a practical design for a boat. How would you like to scrub the decks on that?

Guarantee you that if you owned it, the last thing you would be doing is scrubbing its decks...

Re: Does anyone see the beauty?

ahhh yes... i should have guessed. this is by the architect Zaha Hadid. I won't speak to the "beauty" of it...
as to the why: the "honeycomb" exoskeleton as a design strategy could be a way to deal with structural issues of interior deck levels, bring light deep into the interior and an interior play of volumetric spaces.... thru the holes in the "licorice".
this isn't a 40 foot yacht, so the possibilities change.

as a structural exercise, there is really nothing new here. architects/engineers have been playing with this sort of thing for a long time.
the curvy aspect of it is just a stylistic signature of Hadid....and not very interesting in my opinion.

and the only thing new for Hadid is it's a boat.
