Defever 44 budget

Hi guys

We are looking for a Defever 44 on the East coast (ideally Florida) without any major issues and deferred maintenance. Stabilisers and engine hours below 4000 would be preferred but not a deal breaker. Do you think a budget of $120-150k (before upgrades) is realistic?

Cheers

You might ask the same question on trawlerforum.com (sister site)... I think there are several Defever owners there...

Re: Defever 44 budget

I do not think $120k-$150k for a stabilized, low-hour Defever is realistic. This is a tall boat - I do not think stabilizers are optional. Fortunately, fast majority of DF44's are stabilized. You might be able to find an older Defever 43 in that budget. I'd plan on $200k for a decent example of a DF44.

ranger58's advice to check on TrawlerForum is a good one. Yes, there are more people on CF (a lot more). But not many powerboaters. Defever 44's are fairly popular boats - east coast is more prevelant than west coast so you're in decent shape there. But you do need to pump-up your budget a bit.

Re: Defever 44 budget

Here's one in Florida listed last month on TrawlerForum. $190k. I didn't read to see if it was stabilized. The previous owner was quite knowledgeable and did the loop with this boat so it may be a gem.

It's in great shape. The boat is in New Orleans but I can run it down to S. Florida if you buy it.

Thanks mvweebles, yes there seems to be huge demand for them. This is the kind of insight I’m looking for. From time they pop up on YW within my budget, with good looking pics and specs but I can’t get a good sense if it’s just well marketed by the broker or makes my budget realistic.

Thanks, looks like a great boat but not exactly what I’m looking for(large sun deck, etc
