Cruiser restos and updates?

I'm struggling to decide on a particular cruiser, but I have seen a couple older ones that are very very nice and well cared for, yet need some serious updating. (upholster, wood work, etc). I don't want to deal with a damaged hull, and I'd like a motor in good condition, but a lot of the other stuff I can handle.

does anyone have any good restoration or updating threads/pictures? I'd love to see how anyone has taken an older boat, like say the '89 Sundancer I'm looking at, and made it feel newer. I saw one recently that looked like a 2000+ and really all he did was update the paint scheme and upholstery. looked good though!
