have you compared them to walking across the street while blindfolded......

even ALONE and being a female, old and disabled, i find this life in alleged crime riddled mexico much more laid back and safer than in anyplace, usa.
i think hong kong and singapore might be found more deadly to cruisers than either mexico or caribean or even both combined somehow.

the fact is , after my initial--whollycrapanotheroneofthesethreads, i said---laughing all the way===

enjoy the troll.

this is old stuff,mon---wake up and learn search function. we have axed this to death more than 4 times in past few years. mebbe more than 40 times.....

Re: Crime Stats in Caribbean

Just be sure to take stat's with a grain of salt.. they can often be misleading. For instance, if St. Vincent is crime ridden and it becomes known to be so, not many go there, then guess what? statistically it looks safe as the reported crime rate against cruisers goes way down....

Re: Crime Stats in Caribbean

listening to other cruisers is a good way to guide your own path out here---we hear about stuff in advance of landlubbers--then land lubber media present the most overly sensationalized poo----yes it is dangerous to cruise--why-because we flaunt our money in the face of those not having any!
easy access boats are mainly the ones boarded--as well as shiney beautiful prides and joy boats that scream steal me---like that cute shiny sporty car in the 'hood-- get real..
much of safety is down to presentation.
park that shiny ferrari next to my clapped out vw---who will be the victim...certainly ant gonna be the clapped out anything..
we decide our own fates by our chosen behaviours, and to say otherwise is foolish squawk.
this is truth.
would you board derelict dans boat if there was a gorgeous shiny object next to it----lol
many of us are so busy making our pride and joy be gorgeous so folks admire and worship it and envy us for having such a treasure. this is not how to travel in this world. yes be happy to have your things. do not flaunt them in faces of those with nothing and expect to survive some kind of intrusion somewhere in this world--3rd or otherwise.
it is nice to know where assaultive behaviours are condoned and practiced---can save others this same fate--but be smart--knee jerk is not smart.

be safe out here. also be smart.

You really think that it's hard to kill someone with a pipe, or a knife? It's not.

I think your intuition is pretty good, read it for yourself...

A well written paper titled "Crime in Europe and the US: Dissecting the “Reversal of Misfortunes” documents and analyzes crime rates in Europe compared to the USA. In essence, crime has continued to increase in Europe whereas crime in the USA has leveled off and has been decreasing since 1990.

The authors investigate 5 variables; demographics (fewer young males), immigration, abortion, unemployment, and incarceration.

The European authors conclude that a tougher incarceration policy would help turn the tide in Europe.

Build more jails....I doubt it! Maybe have a good look at immigration because that's one area that Europe is having serious problems with that the USA isn't.

+A1... the W. Indians dislike the Africans and the Pakistanis dislike the Indians... and these two ethnic groups dislike each other... throw into the mix Albanians and the Slavic New Europeans and a pinch of National Front and London along with other large cities is a simmering cauldron...
Germany and France also have ethnic problems with Turks, Algerians etc versus the locals and each other...
I view crime as for personal gain... not motivated by hate...
