Counting Down to the Sale of our Land Locked Home - Looking for Advice on Boats

Greetings, All.

My wife and I are preparing for the sale of our landlocked home. We are currently shopping for a boat that we can make our home with my 2 girls that we have half the time.

We have been looking at boats between 47 and 60 feet long, trying to stay below 150 thousand and above 1981 commission dates.

We seem to be zeroing in on Marine Trader's or like boats.

Any and all advice is welcome, wanted and needed.

Dan

How much travel will you be doing? Fuel prices keep rising so you might want to consider a sailboat... A trawler is a good choice as power boats go

We started by looking at sail boats, are there sailboats that have the same space as trawlers? How about the cost of sails and the replacement of said sails vs the cost of fuel?

How far are you planning to go?

For mine, the key question in deciding between a sailboat and a trawler is "How far do you want to go?".

A trawler would be great for short trips with a lot of marina or even anchoring time in between.

Sailboat could be better for longer trips.

Trawlers look to be sought after at the moment with the good ones getting top dollar. Some of the newer big sailboats look to be value for money.

Catamarans may suit your family, but the better ones do attract a premium price.
