A tornado hit your boat and you are still alive??

Anyways...you can see these on vintage ( Titanic, Lusi, etc...) ocean liners.

We were laid over 90 degrees and came back up. A fella a few hundred yards away was sucked off his deck while trying to weigh anchor to make a run for it and found a few days later face down.

Re: Condensation on the windows

Wood stove - cute . Practical - no, especially on a small boat, at least in my opinion.
Larger boats they can be an option.

. A Dickinson propane heater will also work if it is a proper heater like the Dickinson Newport which vent to the outside. Several friends have the propane Newports and liked them. Also the Diesel Newports. Worked well.

Venting to the inside is a big no, no since propane throws off a lot of moisture, making the problem worse, never mind the CO potential. Cooking is a different matter as we all need to do that but that can be dealt with.

Since it sounds like you already have the propane Dickinson Newport then get it working. Call Dickinson as they are in the Coquitlam area and were extremely helpfull with my diesel stove when I had trouble. Same for the propane system.
You must have a dealer in the area, Comox,Courtenay,Nanaimo, C.River?

Get and install a decent windsheild fan. Often can be had from truck parts places. Two speed they , at least the ones I have, often cleared the windows for us. Once cleared I use the low speed. Under some circumstances even with the diesel stove the condensation will build and the fan must be used especially in the cold, humid air and then boil a kettle to make coffee or cook.

A CLEAN windshield will help to keep misting at bay. Dirt buildup will host misting same as in your car.

Condensation?

Go to your local sporting goods store, and buy the anti-fog spray the hockey players use to stop their face masks from fogging.

Visor Guard from Sport Chek
or
Ladies cold cream
or
Lemon Pledge furniture polish

Try a small patch, and test the result by breathing on the window.
The untreated window will fog, but the treated area will gather the tiny drops into large drops that will run off the window.

Re: Condensation on the windows

I will definitely check out the Visor Guard from Sport Check. The boat goes on the hard for 4 months for refit so I will be working on getting the Dickinson Newport heater working. I think I will just replace the thermocoupler while upgrading many other aspects of the boat.

I've used a Dickinson wood stove before in a 26 foot sailboat and it worked out quite well.

Most shaving cream, at least the Foamy I use, will keep mirrors and windows clear. I think it breaks the surface tension of the water and makes a thin clear film. The water's still there, but now you can see thru it.

You take a small amount of shaving cream, rub the mirror or window and wipe the excess. It lasts a few days on a head mirror or several hours on a boat window.
From a hints newspaper column a very long time ago.

Re: Condensation on the windows

I have to try the shaving cream new to me. Like spit on diving face mask? The small 12V heater fans as posted a few times above are the simple answer. We boat in PNW where OP had problem and the fans work great. another method I use is a small dc fan mounted toward front part of instrument panel used to vent heat from below chart- plotter and other instruments(gets hot under there) aimed at windshields two birds with on little vent fan.

Re: Condensation on the windows

I just had a short 20 min ride with foggy windows (the weather got wet just before arrival). I did not bother to set up the fan. The tool in the picture below was just perfect to use for a short while.
