Canal Du Midi

Hi all, new member. I am at the very early stages of looking at hiring a boat on a one way holiday from Loca Boat at their base at either Negra or Lattes (France) in September 2015 for a mostly one way trip along the Canal Du Midi. The hiring of the boat seems easy enough. I am presuming that we will fly into Paris international airport but I am seeking advice on the best way to get from there to either Negra or Lattes. Hi Bob,

We are taking a train south to the town where we are picking up the boat in about a week. We have found the train system to be reliable and not to pricey. Check to see if you can get to your destination by making reservations through this site: SNCF Trains (France): Train Travel Info - Rail Europe

For info on trains be sure to check out The Man from Seat 61. It may not be applicable but his advice saved me over $1000 on tickets from Paris to Barcelona.

You could try flying into Barcelona if that's cheaper. Trains from there to Narbonne were cheap and convenient. We went on to do the Canal Lateral a la Garonne and really enjoyed ourselves. We haven't done the Canal du Midi (or Locaboat for that matter) but it's a great way to take a holiday.
