Cabin Cruiser Design

Hi all,

I used to timeshare a 32' Bayliner cabin cruiser - about 10-11 years ago, in the Seattle area. It was a model from the 1980s, maybe the 3270 or 3288. I am now in the market for possibly a new boat, and I am finding that no one seems to make that style of cabin cruiser, where you can pilot the boat from either the flybridge or the cabin, which is above water, with full windows giving a great view.

Does anyone make these any more? Current Bayliner 32' and 34' models just seem like larger versions of what I expect from a 20-24' cruiser. Were the old cabin cruiser designs just not marketable? Or was it mainly an issue of fuel efficiency and/or speed?

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Regards,
RE

I'm not sure which model you are referring to, but yes newer power boats seem to be all about looking wierd, curved etc. They are soooo ugly and impractical. I swear if a company would design a good looking boat with nice flat decks to walk on etc etc.. they'd sell for sure. Some actually make these traditional types but they tend to be very high end for their size... like $500k for a 35 footer...

Just about all trawlers have upper and lower helms. They are slow cruisers, about 7-8 knots many traditional design, like mine.
I believe those new eurodesign cruisers are designed by NIKE
Good luck
