Bromine Tablets

I have long used bromine tablets in my A.C. strainers. They keep the strainers very clean and retard marine growth. I read recently that they can also be used in engine and generator strainers to keep their systems clean. Does any have any opinions on this? I would not want to damage anything.

Power plants and ships use bromide to keep their cooling systems clean. I don't know of any drawbacks except chlorine kills some algae that bromide misses.

I’ve been using them for three years with no ill effects. I put them in my shower dumps, a/c pans and a/c strainers. I don’t bother with mains and generators since the heat kills the critters.
