Beneteau Antares 710 starter/ignition problem

Hi,

I have a Beneteau 710 motor boat which I recently purchased. The problem I have is intermittently the ignition/starter fails to properly start. I have had starter motor removed and had it checked over and and greased. Batteries have been checked for charge and cranking capacity all good. Wiring from what I can see is good. Just sometimes when I turn the key I get like a fast clicking sound from the ignition console, like a relay switch or something, buzzer also can sound sometimes like it is struggling, just wondering could it be the contacts in the ignition barrel itself? would it need replacing?

It could be a bad contact in the cabling in either the positive or negative. Take apart and clean all your cable connections including the ground. The solenoid also can be the cause if the contacts are pitted. And the wire from the key to the "S" terminal on the starter could be the issue if it's not making good contact. Or the ignition switch itself.

Sounds like a bad contact in the cabling is most likely.
